CALGARY (CP) -- Inter Pipeline Fund said Wednesday that two natural gas extraction facilities in the Empress, Alta., area are temporarily shut down as a result of a storm that caused power outages and damage in the area.
The plants extract natural gas liquids, ethane, propane, butanes and condensate from natural gas produced in Alberta.
Inter Pipeline [TSX:IPL.UN] owns the Bow River pipeline system, 100 per cent of the Empress II and 50 per cent of the Empress V facility.
Both extraction facilities, located about 100 kilometres northeast of Medicine Hat, Alta., are operated by BP Canada Energy Resources Co..
BP Canada said here were no injuries or environmental damage as a result of the Tuesday night storm and public safety has not been affected.
