TORONTO (CP) -- Sxr Uranium One Inc.'s Honeymoon project in South Australia is not for sale despite rumours of interest from Chinese companies, its president said Thursday.
Uranium One was formed last month through the reverse takeover of Toronto-based Southern Cross Resources Inc. by South African mining group Aflease Gold and Uranium Resources Inc.
''There have been reports that the old SXR held talks with interested parties from China about the Chinese acquiring a stake in Honeymoon,'' Neal Froneman said in a release.
''The talks were not conclusive, and as far as Uranium One is concerned, Honeymoon is a core asset of our global company and is not up for sale.''
Honeymoon is one of the few fully permitted uranium projects in the world.
Shares in Sxr gained C13 cents to C$6.13 in morning trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
