Happy Creek Minerals Ltd. News Release
Exploration returns porphyry copper-gold potential on the
Hen property, B.C.
Date: May 7, 2007, Vancouver, British Columbia
Happy Creek Minerals Ltd. (TSX-V: HPY) (the ?Company?)
announces results from its 100% owned Hen property,
located approximately 16 kilometres southeast of the
former Boss Mountain molybdenum mine and 57 kilometres
northeast of 100 Mile House, B.C. In the late fall of
2006 a program of approximately 23 kilometres of grid and
380 soil samples covered the upper drainage of a stream
containing up to1,280 ppb (parts per billion) gold in
sediment (Anomaly Creek).
Results from the 2006 exploration include several large
areas containing positive values of copper, gold, lead,
zinc and arsenic in soil. Copper values range from 9 to
777 ppm (parts per million), lead from 3 to 158 ppm, and
zinc from 14 to 1333 ppm. The largest areas containing
positive copper, lead and zinc values in soil are
approximately 1000 by 250 metres, 600 by 500 metres, and
800 by 400 metres in dimension, respectively, and remain
open in extent. Gold values range from 0.1 up to 64.2 ppb
within the copper, lead and zinc soil anomalies. Five rock
samples were taken within the grid area and two returned
916 and 1408 ppm copper with up to 115 ppb gold. Pyrite,
pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and bornite (copper sulphides)
and quartz, sericite, K-feldspar, tourmaline (alteration
minerals) occur in outcrop, subcrop and boulders. The
Anomaly Creek zone is underlain by the geological contact
between quartz monzodiorite intrusive rocks and mafic
volcanic-sedimentary rocks of the Nicola Group. This
geological setting is part of the Quesnel Terrane, a well
established belt of rocks known for porphyry copper gold
deposits in B.C.
The Company is pleased that these preliminary results
appear consistent with the periphery of a porphyry
copper-gold system. Further exploration comprised of an
expanded soil geochemical grid, induced polarization
geophysical survey, geological mapping and rock sampling
is planned.
