TORONTO (CP) -- Further ramp-up procedures expected soon in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike which roared across the island country.
The company said an assessment of the damage was being undertaken to determine when full production could resume.
"Management anticipates that finished nickel and cobalt production from the Fort Saskatchewan refinery is not expected to be impacted in 2008 due to this hurricane, subject to the timing of the ramp-up to full production at Moa nickel," Sherritt said.
Sherritt's oil and gas and power operations were shut down Monday night as a precautionary measure. Production was expected to begin Tuesday night.
