SUDBURY, Ont. (CP) -- A big shake in Sudbury, Ont., triggered by a blast of more than 6,300 kilograms of explosives in a mine startled many of the city's residents on Thursday morning.
The initial blast at Vale Inco mines set off a seismic event that registered 3.0 on the Richter scale and caused nine aftershocks.
Company spokeswoman Angie Robson says it was a routine blast but it will take time before they can go underground and investigate its effects.
The incident at Copper Cliff's north mine rattled the entire northern Ontario town at about 7:20 a.m. (CIGM)
