HALIFAX (CP) -- There's been a lot of interest in the Georges Bank area in the Gulf of Maine, a lucrative fishing ground shared by both the U.S and Canada.
A moratorium on drilling on the Canadian side remains in place until January of 2010 but already fishing interests are expressing concern about what comes next.
For now the province's energy minister says his focus remains on the Canadian side of the line.
Richard Hurlburt says he will gather as much information as he can over the next year so that government will be able to make an informed decision on how to proceed when the time comes.
Hurlburt is not saying whether that will entail appointing a review panel.
